Location: Piedmont, Italy | Project Type: Adaptive Reuse
A spatial strategy transforming a UNESCO World Heritage site into an interactive museum. I focused on "adaptive reuse" as a form of UX, creating a flow that respects the historical fabric while guiding modern visitors through an immersive storytelling environment.
Aglie Castle, a World Heritage Site under the serial nomination of the Residences of the Royal House of Savoy, was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1997.
To begin with, the historical context at both macro and micro level for the site was understood. The macro level involved UNESCO’s take on the site and studying the uniqueness and relevance of the site in a wider context. On the micro level the design conservation theory of the site was considered first highlighting the need, purpose and target audience for the project.
